Clarifier is often sold as the fast fix for cloudy water. It is not. It works by gathering very small particles into clumps your filter can catch. If the filter is dirty or chlorine is low, the bottle cannot do the important part for you.

First, work out why the water is cloudy

Clarifier keeps particles in circulation until the filter captures them. It is a good match for a pool with working equipment and mild haze.

Flocculant does something more aggressive. It drops debris to the pool floor, where you vacuum it to waste. That can work for a severe mess, but it is not the casual weekly fix and it can waste a lot of water.

Use clarifier without making the filter miserable
